Sleep

Introduction

One third of Australians are dangerously sleep-deprived.

sleep Since 1910, the amount of sleep we get has steadily decreased by a massive 22 per cent, dropping from nine hours to just seven hours per night.

This is a 'sleeping time bomb' in terms of health. Every hour of lost sleep goes on your body's tab as if you're using a life-long credit card. This is called 'sleep debt'.

In its most extreme case, a 44-year-old man sleeping one hour per night was wracked with pain, became delusional after four months, couldn't walk, his memory failed and he suffered hallucinations where his dreams invaded reality. Within a year, he was dead.
